Last week I was lucky enough to attend the “Throwback Selfies 2017” art exhibition put forth by Children’s Arts Guild and Creative Classrooms, held at St. John’s University in Astor Place. ICS has had a successful partnership with Creative Classrooms for years, and our students are always producing impressive work through the program. This exhibit focused on self-portraiture as a means of expression and self-discovery, and heavily featured Immaculate Conception Students among others in the program across Manhattan and the Bronx. I was very proud of our students, and I felt privileged to have the opportunity to see their work in this setting. ICS is deeply grateful for the hard work of Mr. Mark LaRiviere and Mr. Alexander Kopelman, who worked to get the marvelous space to display student work. We would also like to extend our thanks to Ms. MJ Park, our art teacher, who clearly had great influence on our students. Mrs. Barry and I took some pictures of the event, which we would like to share.
